Perforated, Frosted, or Full Coverage: Choosing Storefront Window Film
Your windows are the biggest sign you own. The right film depends on what you want people outside to see, and what you want people inside to see.
Perforated window film
Perforated film is printed on a material with tiny holes. From outside, people see the full graphic. From inside, you can still see out.
Best for: storefronts that want a big graphic without losing their view or daylight.
Frosted and privacy film
Frosted film gives glass an etched look. It lets light through while blocking a clear view. It can be cut into logos, patterns, or stripes.
Best for: offices, conference rooms, medical spaces, and ground-floor windows that need privacy.
Full-coverage graphics
Solid printed film covers the glass completely.
Best for: construction and coming-soon covers, vacant storefronts, and displays where the view through doesn't matter.
Cut vinyl lettering
Individual letters and logos cut from colored vinyl.
Best for: store hours, door lettering, logos, and phone numbers.
Seasonal and promotional graphics
Short-term graphics for sales, holidays, and launches, usually printed on removable film so they come down clean.
Best for: retail that changes with the season.
Questions to ask before choosing
- How long will it stay up? Short-term and long-term films are different.
- Inside or outside the glass? Placement affects film choice and durability.
- Does the view matter? If yes, consider perforated or partial coverage.
- Are there landlord or local rules? Some buildings and downtown areas limit exterior window graphics.
